EHB 2020 will be held June 5 - June 7, 2020 at the Westin Hotel in Leipzig, again!
Our venue, the Westin Hotel, is in the center of the city, only about 200m away from the central station and many of the sights are just a few minutes of walking away. And best of all: We have been able to rent a complete conference floor with over 18 rooms for EHB only!
What’s happening in 2020?
We welcome experienced barbershop quartet singers from all across Europe and the world. EHB 2020 will start in the afternoon of Friday, June 5, and run until after breakfast on Sunday, June 7. Obviously, the singing will continue late into the night :)
EHB is a mixed event, and we welcome both male and female singers. We will sing arrangements for male voices, but we have chosen the songs specifically for their mixed singability. That means the parts for tenor, lead, and baritone should be singable by both male and female barbershoppers. However, you need to choose your part based on your vocal range and not solely based on the part that you usually sing. Please check our FAQ for a list of typical ranges for each part.
We will sing a shared repertoire of twelve fun and challenging arrangements, which will be distributed electronically (sheet music and learning tracks) to all participants about four months before the Brigade. This repertoire overlaps considerably with that of other 2020 Brigades. If you participate in any of the Brigades in the AXQHB, you will already know a substantial part of the repertoire. We may also be sharing two to three songs with the UK Harmony Brigade. In this way, we want to make it easy for our brothers and sisters from other Extreme Quartetting events to participate, and we would be thrilled if you came to visit! In addition, we encourage you to use the “Instant Quartet” app to find even more songs that you can sing together when you meet in Leipzig.
Leipzig is a fantastic city to visit!
Leipzig is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany with a rich cultural and musical heritage. J.S.Bach lived and worked in the “Thomaskirche” for over 20 years, the church’s choir, “Thomanerchor” is one of the oldest boys choirs in the world (founded over 800 years ago). Leipzig is home to one of Europe’s oldest opera houses and the world’s largest symphony orchestra, the “Gewandhausorchester”, to name just a few of the city’s musical highlights.
Leipzig is about an hour away from Berlin (using a fast train ICE); its airport can easily be reached from most European destinations.
Important: Please get in touch with us if you’d like to extend your stay – we have extra spots reserved at the hotel for you!
